Continuo la lettura del Rapporto Rapid Risk Assessment: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the EU/EEA and the UK– ninth update per la parte che si occupa di come e quando allentare le misure di distanziamento sociale.

La premessa è che non esiste una ricetta univoca per tutti i territori, perché diverso è stato l’impatto della pandemia e diverso l’approccio da parte degli organi decisori, anche se ormai in tutta Europa qualche misura è stata presa. Sicuramente rimuovere tutte insieme le misure di contenimento può causare una rapida ripresa del contagio.

In the current situation, measures in Member States should continue to be aimed at the containment and mitigation of further transmission of the virus, and its impact, including infection prevention and control, community-level physical distancing, measures in hospital settings, surveillance and testing. A focus on vulnerable groups and populations with defined risk criteria is paramount.

Fino a quando non saranno disponibili vaccini e farmaci adeguati si dovranno comunque limitare i contatti.

Chi si occupa di salute pubblica dovrà

• organizzare un efficace piano di sorveglianza
• tracciare i contatti
• aumentare la capacità di eseguire test validi
• organizzare le strutture sanitarie affinché possano far fronte sia a covid19 che alle altre patologie (che non sono micascomparse)
• una forte strategia di comunicazione del rischio

Mi piace rafforzare quest’ultimo punto

Two over-arching risk communication messages could be considered during any phasing out strategy:

• This is a marathon, not a sprint. People’s expectations about the pandemic’s duration and the effect it will continue to have on their lives for the foreseeable future need to be managed. This is not going to end anytime soon, and people need to prepare mentally for that.
• We must not drop our guard. During the phasing out process, communities must be engaged and motivated so that they can continue to maintain high standards of hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette, use face masks when sick2, as well as implement any necessary physical distancing. This will help to protect themselves and others. Health workers (who can never ‘drop their guard’ during the pandemic, and who enjoy a high level of trust and respect within the community) could be used as the messengers for this message.

Questo è veramente un ultracondensato del rapporto, che andrebbe letto tutto con attenzione. Anche una lettura collettiva non sarebbe male.
